3 Problems with Success

Problem 1

One of the biggest problems with being so successful in something such as your sports or your career it generally means that you have given a lot of time, focus and dedication and long working or training hours sometimes for years to actually get you where you are today. With so much of your focus on sport or work it can then lead to neglecting other areas of your life particularly your relationship and family, other life interests and hobbies.

So what to do? You need to get balance and you need to define what is important in your life. If you're family is really the most important thing to you then you need to start paying it your attention. If you're out of balance redefine your week to fit it in. Do what ever you need to do to get your balance back.

Problem 2

The second thing is when you're successful you're often at the top and the top can be lonely. You have all these people trying to please you, look up to you, want to be like you, who need and want your advice, that you're the one (that if this successful) must know everything. But like any one you don't know everything and if you're at the top then who do you go to for advice? Often you feel like you've got to figure it out on your own and sometimes feel compelled to do it on your own than risk telling someone that you don't know. This is where a trusted adviser can be so good for you.

Problem 3

The third problem with being successful is then trying to stay there! The ride up is hard work but often easier in a sense because there are no expectations. But once you're there then people expect the best out of you again and again. And what if you fail? What will they think then? And the higher up you are the higher fall you have. So you hold on tighter and try harder and the pressure builds and builds and you hide your mistakes and do anything to stay there.. but then until what? Being at the top you must remember how and who you really are, help take away your own pressures and expectations, set clear goals and milestones and let others know that you're not really better than anyone else, you're really just like them trying to do your best and remember you can't stay and be at the top forever sometimes you need to let someone else have a go.
