It's at times when we see others lose something.. like a loved one.. the use of their limbs.. their executive corporate job and thus finances.. that we stop and think about what we have and if we lost it too.. but how long does this actually stay with us before we think it will never happen to us and we go on abusing things, people and ourselves and not appreciating what we have when we actually have it?
And it's not just appreciating what we have but 'looking after' what you have.. to get the best out of something you must look after it and pay it attention and if you're not now you had better hurry up and do so before you lose it and only live looking back with regrets. If its your relationship, your body, your business, your family, your lifestyle, yourself..
For some people it's too late.. they don't realise what they have until it's taken away from them, even when they knew that what they were doing could cause them to lose it.. be death, a divorce, loss of job or finding out you have lung cancer and not long to live for you've abused your body by smoking for years. These people are the ones on TV begging others to quit or stop and say don't make the same mistakes I did so you too don't suffer what I'm suffering. But some people won't learn from other people's mistakes only their own and have to suffer the ultimate pain before they can see or do anything about these things. Can we learn from others mistakes.. do we even learn from our own!?!
If you're doing something that you know there is a good chance that it will bring pain to you later on down the track what do you want to do about it? Are you disciplined to act now to appreciate and look after and fully enjoy everything you have now and give you your best chance to continue with that happiness in the future? Or are you lazy..? Do you really care? Do you want to stop? What's stopping you from taking this action? What stopping you moving on that task?
Question is - do you want to change? And how badly do you want to change? How clearly can you see the pain in your future if you don't change? Until you see this or imagine it so clearly that it compels you into action you could find yourself as one of those who doesn't change, has all the information but refuses to take control now when you have the chance to do something about it for both your best interests and best interests of those around you and end up not having much time left to live or waking up one day realising you lost something that you never appreciated enough when you had it.
